Over 500 alumni attended their reunion on April 24. The evening started with mass at Holy Family Church, where several alumni were honored for their achievements in the workplace and as supporters of Ignatius. ESTATE & TAX PLANNING SPRING WORKSHOP: APRIL 24, 2010

The Council hosted a free tax and estate planning workshop on the morning of April 24, 2010. 30 guests attended, and had the chance to focus on personal concerns, including how to protect relatives and loved ones through the establishment of a will, and the effects of the recent lapsed estate tax. Special thanks to moderator Jerry Broadhurst '54 and panel members Dick Harbaugh, John Klich '94 and Mike LoVallo. The Council expects to host future sessions as changes to the law are anticipated.

LAW LUNCHEON: APRIL 16, 2010

Thanks to all who attended the 29th annual Saint Ignatius Law Luncheon, which welcomed the largest group of attendees to date! More than 400 guests attended the event, which took place at the Union League Club in Chicago on Friday, April 16.

We congratulate Hon. Maura Slattery Boyle '85 (Cook County Circuit Court), who is the first female grad to receive the Award for Excellence in the Field of Law. She gave a touching address about her time at Ignatius and how the ideals and values she gained as a student became the foundation for her career and her family. Many of Maura's family members were in attendance to support her. In addition, an honorary diploma was awarded to parent of alumni and friend, Hon. Jennifer Duncan Brice (Cook County Circuit Court).

Special thanks is offered to luncheon chairs Tom Brabec '73, John Coleman '67, Kevin Conway '69, Dan Pikarski '90 and Curtrice White Scott '90, as well as members of the Saint Ignatius Law Society. For more information about the society or their upcoming events, click here or contact Meredith Couling at meredith.couling@ignatius.org or 312.432.8348. The society currently supports one student through the completed Michael F. Lefkow Memorial Scholarship Endowment and is beginning to build another financial aid endowment.

AUCTION 2010: MARCH 20,2010

Official totals are still being gathered, but preliminary reviews show that the March 20 auction, Puttin' on the Ritz—Midnight in the Garden of Athena, was a huge success with over 1,100 guests in attendance! School administrators extend thanks to all who attended, donated an item or volunteered their time to make the event a hit.

The school was transformed into a Mediterranean wonderland throughout the hallways while parents, alumni, school staff and friends crowded around themed tables, bidding on vacation getaways, unique baskets, items for the home and even motor scooters. The Interactive Auction was a hit, with bright screens lighting up busy corners of the auction floors where guests were able to bid electronically via laptops and Apple tablets and could watch the bid status of select items on large screens.

A very special thanks is extended to everyone who helped make the auction a success. Click here to see a list of individuals and companies that donated to the auction. If you contributed but don’t see your name, please contact Alice Luzzi at 312-432-8404. We also thank all the Saint Ignatius faculty, staff and alumni who manned the check-in, check-out and raffle stations. Two lucky families won free tuition for the 2010-2011 school year and three prizes were distributed in the Grecian Gold cash raffle.
